Camp Health Update

Dear Bear Creek Camp Community,

Our mission to “Explore, Celebrate, and Grow in God’s Creation” can only be accomplished if our campers and guests are participating in an environment that promotes safety and health.

Like many of you, we’ve been monitoring the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past couple of months. We are actively reviewing information from the CDC and the American Camp Association regarding the illness and the recommended preventative measures and their effect on our operations here at BCC.

In this time, we are even more conscientious about continuing to implement the procedures that we already have in place to ensure every guest is well cared for, including disinfecting all surfaces between guest groups including bathrooms, mattresses, eating areas and doorknobs; providing ample opportunity and access to handwashing and hand-sanitizing stations; and ensuring that staff stay home when they are not feeling well. We ask that our guests also do not participate in group activities if they have flu-like symptoms and continue to uphold our policy that any paid deposits are refundable if cancellation is made for a health-related reason.

As an accredited member of the American Camp Association (something only 25% of camps in the United States maintain), we are grateful for their resources in helping provide relevant information and support during this rapidly evolving situation. We are fortunate to have a great working relationship with our local health department so we can continue to focus on serving our ongoing retreat groups and preparing for summer camp. As further developments arise, we will work to keep you informed of any changes we may make to operations and scheduled events.

If you have further questions or concerns, please reach out to us here at the office either by email or by phone 570.472.3741. Thank you for remaining in prayer with us for our world and God’s people.

Collin Grooms
Executive Director
