The Program

Bear Creek Camp's summer program is a traditional camp program centered on spiritual growth, outdoor exploration, and small group development.  We serve children from age 4 through those who have completed 12th grade though our day or residential programs.

Residential Camp

Sunday through Saturday programs are for children who have completed grade 1-12.  Campers spend their time living and playing together: swimming, boating, hiking,    worshipping, playing games, discussing their faith, camping, making arts and crafts, learning about the environment, singing, and much more.

Nature Day Camp

These half or full week on-site day programs are for children age 4 through having completed grade 8.  Campers spend their time learning about a specific environmental theme each week in addition to having all the fun of our traditional camp program.  Bible study, hiking, aquatic activities, games, arts and crafts, and more will help your child grow as they discover ecological connections in the world around them.

Church Day Camp

Bear Creek Day Camps are a  unique partnership between outdoor and  congregational ministry.  Bear Creek Camp sends teams of  enthusiastic, Christ-centered counselors to congregations to lead an exciting week of faith-focused learning, arts & crafts, games, and  nature activities.  Bear Creek Day Camps  are  designed  for  youth  who  have  completed grades K-5.

The Staff

Bear Creek Camp’s traditional camping model centers on small groups, with whom your child will experience the camp’s program.  This group is generally co-ed, being led by staff members who undergo a formal application process and two or more weeks of extensive training to ensure that your camper has a great experience!  These staff members must have at least one year of post high school experience.  Additional volunteers of all ages support the camp program.  These include visiting chaplains, nurses, and others who share their gifts in a variety of ways.

Location

Bear Creek Camp and Conference Center in Bear Creek, PA, the outdoor ministry site of the Northeastern and Southeastern Pennsylvania Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is conveniently located just off of the PA Turnpike and Interstate 81 near Wilkes-Barre.  Situated on nearly 3,000 acres of forest, streams, and fields, campers spend their days filled with activities designed to help them grow in their understanding of God, self, creation, and community.
